Mission:
To
provide a
structure for
oversight and the
channelling of
funds to
various educational
and welfare
projects in
the province
of
Kwa-Zulu Natal
South Africa.
To oversee the
care of
children from
the previously
disadvantaged communities in
the area through
education,
training,
feeding
schemes,
rehabilitation
of family structures,
social
upliftment,
job creation,
and medical
care.
Background:
An
educational
and welfare
trust was
established in
1989 by El
Bethel
Ministries for
the education,
welfare and
care of the
marginalised
communities in
Kwa-Zulu Natal
South Africa.
The trustees are prominent members of the
Ladysmith
community and
consists of
two ministers
of religion,
an accountant,
a medical
doctor and two
businessmen
Activities:
The
Trust has been
involved in
initiating and
administrating
various
projects:
1.
Providing
medical care
for the
Watersmeet
community of
36000 people
for five years
until the
government
provided a
medical clinic
for the area.
2.
Feeding
street
children on a
weekly basis
and being
involved in
their
rehabilitation
for ten years
in the
Ladysmith CBD
until the
Child Welfare
society took
over the
project.
3.
Feeding
35000
preschool
children on a
monthly basis
for 3 years
utilising the
government's
school feeding
initiative.
4.
Channelling
medical
supplies from
donors to
various needy
communities
and eventually
into Africa.
5.
Establishing
and
administrating
a private
Christian
school,
Harvest High,
for previously
disadvantaged
communities in
Ladysmith for
the last 15
years.
6.
Feeding
and caring for
families
devastated by
the AIDS
pandemic. We
are currently
involved in
feeding 280
families on a
monthly basis.
Vision:
-
To
continue to
educate more
than 200
students
through the
Harvest
Educational
Programme.
-
To
expand the
programme to
include
computer and
science
laboratories
and a social
programme for
the
rehabilitation
of the family
structures of
students.
-
To
provide full
time
accommodation
for students
who are
currently not
cared for by
their parents.
-
To
expand the
feeding of
widows and
orphans both
in numbers and
in quantity of
support.
